Man Arrested for Alleged Theft, Possession of Weapons at San Joaquin Delta College

STOCKTON-

A man was arrested for alleged theft and possession of weapons on campus at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton on Tuesday morning, according to campus police.

Police were alerted to a possible theft in progress at the campus bookstore about 9:30 a.m. The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Devon Dwayne Taylor of Stockton, left the store and started walking toward another building on campus.

During a police pat-down for weapons, officers said they found two knives on Taylor. The knives found on him are illegal on campus, according to police.

During an interview, officers said they learned that Taylor had entered the bookstore earlier that morning and had successfully stolen several items, according to police.

Taylor was arrested and booked into San Joaquin County Jail on felony charges of possession of weapons on campus and petty theft with a prior conviction. He also faces misdemeanor charges of petty theft and attempted petty theft.
