Police in Turlock say a deadly drive-by shooting Thursday night led officers to a house with nearly 200 marijuana plants inside.

A man was shot and killed just before midnight Thursday in the 1100 block of Baywood Lane.

Turlock Police responded to 911 calls of a shooting along Baywood Lane near Linwood Avenue to find 22-year-old Marcus Culebro of Turlock down in the yard in front of a home.

According to investigators, suspects allegedly arrived at the home and beat and tied a resident. As they were leaving, the homeowner and several friends were returning from a trip to the store. Culebro was shot as he exited his car. The suspects fled the scene.

Officers found that the home contained over 190 marijuana plants averaging around 3.5 feet in size. It was not immediately clear whether this was a factor in the homicide.

Turlock Police are actively pursuing leads and gathering information in regards to suspect descriptions and how they fled the scene.

Authorities are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to please contact Detective Bertram at (209) 664-7323.
