70-Year-Old Bay Area Man Drowns in San Joaquin River

STOCKTON —

A Bay Area man drowned, today, after deciding to take a swim in the San Joaquin River.

The victim, a 70-year-old man whose name has not been released, was out fishing with his family when he decided to go swimming, fully clothed. He was down for 20 minutes when the family called authorities.

The man was recovered at 7:20 p.m., and by that time, he’d been down for about one hour. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead.
