SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — A San Jose State University student has died after he fell unconscious during a practice of a water polo club team at the campus aquatics center.

The San Jose Mercury News reports that 24-year-old Ryan Harryman was taken off life support Saturday. He was taken to the hospital Tuesday after officials say he suffered severe brain damage.

Harryman was scheduled to graduate in spring with a bachelor’s degree in anthropology. He graduated from Homestead High School in Cupertino. The water polo club he was practicing with is separate from the university’s intercollegiate team.
