UC Irvine Passes $1B Fundraising Goal

IRVINE (AP) — Officials at the University of California, Irvine, say the school has surpassed its 10-year goal of raising $1 billion in donations.

The “Shaping the Future” campaign will fund scholarships, academic chairs and research projects at the Orange County university.

The Los Angeles Times reports Monday that the decade of donations total $1,013, 853,274, to be exact.

UCI Foundation Chair Douglas K. Freeman says more than 113,000 donors contributed.
