Deadly Pedestrian, Amtrak Collision in West Sacramento

WEST SACRAMENTO —

An Amtrak train headed for Oakland left the station at 10:40 a.m. and struck a pedestrian at 10:47 a.m.

The pedestrian is described as a male adult. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The conductor said he did see the man but the victim did not move as they applied the brakes and sounded the horn.

The incident happened behind the 2700 block of Rice Avenue in West Sacramento.

The West Sac Police Department will do an investigation as well as Amtrak.
