MADERA —

Two men have been arrested in connection to a shooting at McNally Park in which a teen was shot in the face.

Police said the two men shot at multiple individuals in the park during the day on Oct. 2. One bullet hit a 15-year-old in the face and another round hit a nearby residence.

The suspected shooters have been identified as 18-year-old Jose Sanchez and 18-year-old David Cardenas, according to police.

The motive for the shooting is gang related, police said.

Sanchez and Cardenas were booked into the Madera County Department of Corrections on numerous charges, including attempted murder and committing the act for the benefit of a gang.

Investigators seized several firearms, ammunition and evidence of gang-related activity.
