SACRAMENTO --

James Tran made his first court appearance Friday. The 28-year-old is facing attempted murder charges for allegedly stabbing Spencer Stone four times back on October 8 outside of a Midtown liquor store.

His attorney had "no comment".

FOX40 tried to obtain the arrest warrant affidavit, but due to the public interest in this case, the files were sealed Friday.

But Tran's criminal record is extensive. He has faced multiple felony drug and weapon charges in the past, and in 2008, he pleaded no contest to possession of drugs for sale.

Attempted murder is, by far, his most serious charge.

Tran's bail was set at $2 million. He is due back in court on Dec. 1 at 8:30 a.m.
