DAVIS —

At 9:44 a.m. two Davis Police motorcycle officers drifted in to each other while traveling together west-bound on 32-B near 105-D in between Davis and West Sacramento, off of Interstate-80.

One officer was ejected from his motorcycle and has severe pain to his left leg. That person was transported to a local hospital and is expected to be okay.

The two officers were helping other officers out by searching for a potentially stolen vehicle. The officers had not seen the car they were searching for, this was not a pursuit.

The Davis PIO says the officers are trained to travel alongside each other so they know where your partner is, and occasionally they do collide.

Davis PD Motorcycle officers are supposed to attend monthly training courses on speed, control breaking, slow riding, etc. However, the PIO says that doesn’t always happen due to scheduling, events, etc.

He could not confirm when these two officers last received training.
