Manteca Police Investigate Possible Gang Related Homicide

MANTECA —

The Manteca Police Department is investigating a homicide after finding a 24-year-old male with a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Sunday, around 5:20 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of Locust Avenue where they found the man in the garage.

Officers attempted CPR until emergency personnel arrived. Upon their arrival, the victim was declared dead at the scene.

The investigation revealed that the victim and three others were standing in or near the garage when a green Cheverolet or GMC SUV and a light colored sedan drove past the residence.

Passengers from one of the vehicles fired at least six rounds from a handgun in the direction of the victim and the others.

No one else was hit by the gun fire.

Investigators believe the shooting may be gang related. Anyone with information about the shooter and the investigation is asked to call 209-823-4636.
