Former Boxer Tony Lopez Enters Sacramento Mayoral Race

SACRAMENTO–

Tony “The Tiger” Lopez, Sacramento native and former boxing champion, has announced he is entering the city’s mayoral race.

Lopez will make a formal announcement Friday afternoon at Vallejos Restaurant on O Street. A news release from his campaign specifically said the announcement would begin at 5:07 p.m.

Lopez, 52, was a professional boxer from 1983 to 1999. He now runs a bail bonds business in Sacramento.

He spoke briefly about running for mayor in August.
