A man was fatally shot Saturday night inside of a Carmichael apartment complex, according to Sacramento Sheriff’s spokesman Tony Turnbull.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to calls shortly after 11 p.m. of a victim lying on the ground following an altercation at the Walnut Wood Apartments on the 2800 block of Walnut Avenue.  According to Turnbull, the victim, an unidentified 25-year-old male, was found suffering from a gunshot wound inside of an apartment. The victim was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses told officials they heard a scuffle coming from the area of the victim’s apartment, and then heard a gunshot. Two males were seen running away from the area of the shooting, and a fleeing vehicle was heard shortly after, Turnbull said.
