STOCKTON —

Just after midnight on New Year’s two officers were standing near their patrol car at the police department when they heard a loud noise, according to police.

The bullet struck the patrol vehicle and then glanced off one of the officer’s legs. Police believe the gunshot was celebratory for the New Year holiday.
