LODI —

Jackie Pickett, the Lodi woman who was attacked with a baseball bat in a park, is still fighting to recover.

Pickett’s mother, Amber Gomes, said that her daughter is up and walking with some assistance.

She also said that Pickett has begun writing as a way to deal with her pain.

However, she has also been fighting a blood infection and her fever has soared as high as 105 degrees.

Pickett’s mother remains hopeful and said she will be moved to a neurological rehab center once she is considered stable.

The suspect in the beating, 17-year-old Dulce Rios, is being charged as an adult in the crime.
