STOCKTON --

An 80-year-old woman in Stockton has been robbed and sexually assaulted at her apartment.

The Stockton Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying and catching the man who is suspected of attacking her. The attack happened about 8 p.m. Wednesday at an apartment complex on North Pershing Avenue in Stockton, according to investigators.

Her home is where she should have been safe. Instead, Stockton police investigators said her home is where a man with a knife broke into her place, robbed her, then sexually assaulted her.

“I hope they catch the person that did it to her,” said neighbor Kelley Bowden.

Neighbors FOX40 spoke with were saddened to hear that such a violent crime could happen at the complex.

Officer Joe Silva with the Stockton Police Department said the elderly victim is recovering.

“We know that she is with family and friends, but obviously she’s very traumatized,” Silva said.

Now CrimeStoppers is offering a reward up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspected attacker.

“Obviously we need this guy caught before he hurts someone else,” he said.

Neighbors are hoping an arrest is made soon.

The suspect is described as a black man in his 30s with a light complexion and thin mustache. He wore a dark knit cap, red sweatshirt and blue jeans. If you have any information please contact CrimeStoppers at (209) 946-0600.
