BROWNSVILLE, Brooklyn — A 23-year-old Brooklyn father is charged with torturing his three-year-old son by burning, whipping and forcing him to kneel on Legos, according to FOX40’s sister station PIX11.

The toddler’s grandmother, 52, made a report of child abuse at the family’s home, according to police.

The child had “multiple injuries from his father,” police said. He was also severely malnourished and taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Leonardo Decouite, 23, was arrested Saturday and charged with assault.

Police say Decouite whipped his son with cable wire and belt, leaving visible marks of the beating. He also forced the toddler to kneel on Legos, causing the child to bleed, police said.

Decouite allegedly also shot toddler with pellet gun twice and burned the child’s right hand and both feet.

Decouite has 14 prior charges, police say. In November, he was charged with criminal sale of marijuana.

The toddler’s mother, Kiana Mohansingh, 20, was also charged with assault. A 6-year-old girl was also in the home, uninjured.
