SUISUN CITY --

Police say a woman pointed a gun at an officer's chest and attempted to pull the trigger on Monday morning.

Suisun City police officers were called out to the Autumn Oaks Apartment on Humphrey Drive about 7:15 a.m. for reports of a woman pointing a gun at a newspaper delivery person.

When officers arrived, they found 34-year-old Desiree Hinton arguing with a man, but she was not armed, police said.

Officers said they tried to detain Hinton but she ran into her apartment.

Police said Hinton reached under the couch, grabbed a gun and pointed it an officer's chest. The officer then grabbed the gun and a physical struggle started between the two.

Hinton tried to pull the trigger multiple times and made threats about killing the officer, police said. The gun jammed and did not fire. The gun was taken from Hinton and she was arrested.

Hinton was booked into the Solano County Jail on probable cause for attempted murder with charges pending.
