WEST SACRAMENTO --
As far as opening nights go, Wednesday's was tough to beat.
"It's a dream come true," exclaimed one Giants fan.
"I've been here since 1:40 this morning just for Buster," said another.
Buster, of course, is Buster Posey -- the Giants MVP catcher. He, along with his teammates such as Hunter Pence, Matt Cain and Brandon Crawford were all at Raley Field on Wednesday evening to play an exhibition game against the River Cats.
But just because the game didn't count, didn't mean the guys were here to take it easy on their minor league affiliate.
"I don't think it matters if you're playing this game or a wiffle ball game, you want to go win," said Posey. "So, yeah you want to win."
Pitcher Matt Cain added: "It's nice to be out of Arizona. You know, come up here and play the Bay Bridge series this weekend. It's always nice to get out of the desert."
And quirky outfielder Hunter Pence had his own take on playing in Sacramento.
"Playing a game here is a little awkward, you know taking a bus ride over. We don't even know where all of our stuff is. I think Angel (Pagan) doesn't even have a bat here."
The sellout crowd saw an 8-4 Giants win with home runs from Posey, Crawford, and Brandon Belt.
San Francisco now moves on to play the Bay Bridge series with the Oakland A's Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Then they will open the regular season on the road in Milwaukee on Monday.
