PATTERSON–

A Patterson man was arrested Tuesday morning for spraying graffiti at a local park while still on probation, deputies said.

Erik Patino, 20, was caught running from Garza Park as deputies arrived. When they stopped him, Patino had blue paint on his hands. The paint was the same color as the graffiti.

Deputies arrested Patino on charges of vandalism and probation violation. A city worker came to clean up the graffiti after Patino was taken away.

Patino is currently in Stanislaus County Jail. He was previously arrested Jan. 21 for drug possession and obstructing a police officer on duty, according to a Patterson police log.

Tyler Heberle filed this report.
