STOCKTON --

Stockton police were able to stop a kidnapper's car Monday afternoon and rescue a woman inside.

Vernoil Roots and Stephanie Frazier are now facing charges for holding a 29-year-old woman against her will, police said.

Officers say that she was assaulted in a strip mall parking lot on North El Dorado Street and forced into the car police eventually found.

Folks in the area say they're frustrated with what's happening in their neighborhood.

"I don't think it's really. I don't think it's really right.  It's just part of the environment.... but I don't know why," said John Hampton.

Police say the 29-year-old victim in this case had to be treated at the hospital after the attack, but said that those injuries were not life threatening.
