STOCKTON --

Three women robbed a Babies R Us in North Stockton. The robbery happened on Trinity Parkway about 2 p.m. Monday, according to the Stockton Police Department.

It’s not what was taken from the store that upsets shoppers -- it’s who was involved.

"That is surprising because usually around this section it's pretty, pretty mellow,” Marco Andrade, a Stockton man said.

On Monday afternoon, three women stole several items from the store. With them, a 4-year-old child.

"The mom needs to take good care of the children,” Elena Avejo said.

Investigators said the group left the store without paying and when a security guard tried to stop them, one of the women became aggressive.

However, the security company that patrols the shopping center claims the person who was actually hit was a Babies R Us sales associate.

Investigators said the victim was struck over and over again. The group got away.

"Everybody need(s) to be nice. It's very bad,” Avejo said.

The child that was with the women took a Hot Wheels toy car. Investigators said the suspects got into a 2015 gray Dodge Dart 4-door with license plate 7NET997.
