Scammers are always on the hunt for new ways to scam you and your families. Paul is in the studio with Steve Stanley, Nevada Co. Sheriff's Deputy, talking all about phone scams.

COMMON SCAMS

-Creating fake real estate ads on craigslist, then scammer collects down payment

-Claims they are your grandson or granddaughter in jail and needs bail money etc.

-They will call and say that a traffic ticket payment or missing a court date will result in a warrant

-Owing back taxes to the IRS

GIVEAWAYS THAT THIS IS A SCAM...

-No reputable government agency will ask you to pay via gift card or wire money

-They're trying to get information out of you that they would already know if they were your relative

-If you give money they will follow up, they will always have a reason to keep calling you back and ask for money
