FAIRFIELD -- School staff and Fairfield police found a semi-automatic handgun inside a boys bathroom on campus at Vanden High School Wednesday morning.

The clip of ammo was found on another student, who may not have known what he or she was carrying around.

Police arrested a 14-year-old boy and booked him into juvenile hall for allegedly bringing the gun onto campus.

Through a letter to parents, the school says that administration was informed that a student was seen with a handgun on school grounds about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday and notified police.

After talking with a source and seeing the suspected teen go into a bathroom, staff found the gun within 30 minutes of the first call to police.

No one was hurt in the incident.

Investigators said the gun belongs to an adult who resides at the boy's home.

Police found another bullet inside the boy's backpack, and after searching his bedroom, another clip and bullet were also discovered there.
