Police: 3 of 5 Suspects Arrested in Robbery-Turned Attempted Murder

MODESTO — Police are searching for two of five suspects in a Friday night robbery-turned attempted murder were arrested, authorities said.

Modesto police officers responded to the 400 block of Camelia Avenue to reports of a shooting. There, they located 26-year-old male victim suffering a gun shot in the back.

During the investigation, officers determined that five suspects, three of whom were later arrested, went to the house on Camelia Avenue to “retrieve some property.” After an exchange, police say several suspects demanded some of the victim’s property. Soon after, the victim was shot in the back and the suspects fled.

Two suspects, John Rodriguez, 28, and Trea Garcia, 27, were arrested after officers located and attempted a traffic stop on the suspected vehicle. One more suspect, Justin Mann, 33, was arrested later that evening in a house on the 2800 block of Fitzpatrick Avenue where officers located two handguns, a sawed-off shotgun and cocaine.

Police are still searching for the driver of the suspect vehicle and a fifth suspect. Rodriguez, Garcia and Mann were booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on charges of attempted murder, robbery, conspiracy and gun charges.
