Man Dies in Stockton After Gunman Shoots at Vehicle

STOCKTON — A man was shot and killed in Stockton when a suspect walked up to a vehicle and fired a gun, Stockton police said.

Officers headed to a local hospital after they were told a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound had arrived. The hospital attempted life-saving measures, but the man did not survive.

A witness told police that he and the victim – identified as 26-year-old Jeremy Dew – had been driving near Oak and California streets when a suspect walked up to their vehicle and fired a gun at them. The two then fled and drove to the hospital, police said.

The suspect is described as a man wearing dark clothing.

Detectives are still investigating.
