KERNERSVILLE, N.C. – It's an incredible comeback story.

Just five weeks after clinging to life after a horrible car accident, 17-year-old Kernersville resident Jeffrey Branch is back in the gym doing what he loves, shooting hoops.

His father, Allen Branch, owner of Fitness One Training Systems, was shocked when he saw his son in the hospital on June 14.

"When we walked in it was full neck brace, breathing tube completely unresponsive and it wasn't a pretty sight," he told FOX40 sister station FOX8.

Day by day, Jeffrey made improvements. Just 10 days after the accident he was dribbling a basketball up and down the halls of Baptist Hospital as a form of therapy.

Now he has been cleared to do everything except play full court basketball.

"I learned that I can fight through mostly anything," Jeffrey Branch said. "If I got through this and can play again someday there's a lot I can get through."

Jeffrey's goal is to be ready for the season opener as he starts his junior season at Westchester Country Day School.
