SACRAMENTO — A man in custody for various charges died inside of his cell July 24 at the Sacramento County Main Jail, according to the sheriff’s department.
According to a statement released late Sunday evening, officers found the 41-year-old man “unresponsive and unconscious” shortly before 6 p.m. Emergency personnel, both inside and outside of the jail, was notified, but the man was pronounced dead.
There were no signs of trauma or foul play, officials said. The unidentified man was in custody since July 22 on drug charges, destroying evidence, resisting arrest and violation of probation.
