SYDNEY — An Australian teenager on the run from a correction center had a strange request for a local news station broadcasting her photo.
Amy Sharp, 18, escaped from Surry Hills Corrective Services Cell Complex on Aug. 19. Police then released her mug shots to the media asking for help to find her.
The 18-year-old, who was in custody for property offenses, was not happy with the photos police released. She then commented on 7 News Sydney’s Facebook post with an alternative photo of her.
More than 55,000 people liked Sharp’s comment, which included a smiling face. Hours after her post, Sharp was arrested in a park.
She was taken to the police station for questioning, a police spokesperson told the Daily Mail. It was not immediately clear if charges were filed.
