STOCKTON — Stockton Police say they arrested a third person in connection with a June paintball attack outside the city’s only LGBT¬†nightclub, Paradise.

Austin Richardson, 18, was arrested Monday, police said.

The arrest stems from an incident on June 12, in which a group of friends standing outside the club were shot with blue paintballs. The group told FOX40 they believe they were targeted because they are gay.

This was the same day a man opened fire inside a popular gay club in Orlando, Florida, killing 49 people.

Not long after the paintball attack, Stockton Police arrested 19-year-old Branden Staples and a 16-year-old accomplice.

Richardson was booked into San Joaquin County Jail on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and committing  a hate crime.
