Police Searching for Suspect in Fatal Shooting

SOUTH SACRAMENTO -- Authorities are searching for a suspect after a fatal shooting in South Sacramento Tuesday night.

Close to 7:30 p.m. officers got a call for a shooting at a shopping center in front of Riteaid in the 7200 block of Franklin Boulevard.

Once on the scene a man was found suffering from what officers described as a traumatic gunshot wound.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

No one else was injured on the scene.

There are no suspects in custody but because the shooting happened in a busy shopping center, officers are hoping for many witness statements.

Officers are also hoping they can rely on surveillance tapes from surrounding businesses.
