Man Suspected of Hit and Run That Killed Grandmother Arrested

SACRAMENTO — The man suspected in a hit and run that killed his own grandmother and his father’s girlfriend has been arrested, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.

Investigators say 22-year-old Valentino Alvarez had just left a wake for his great grandmother. The car Alvarez was driving clipped the back of a semi truck, causing him to lose control and roll several times on Hood-Franklin Road and Stone Lake Road.

Officers say Alvarez then flagged down another car and left the scene.

Meanwhile, his own grandmother and his father’s girlfriend were pronounced dead at the scene. Alvarez’s father was rushed to the hospital, having lost a hand in the crash.

“Right about straight across, in the middle of the intersection, a hand was laying in he middle of the road,” witness Steve Shaw told FOX40.
