FOLSOM, Calif. (AP) — State prison officials have launched a homicide investigation after an inmate at a prison in Folsom was found unresponsive in his cell and later pronounced dead.
Prison officials say 44-year-old Cleophus Bealey died at a hospital Tuesday, four days after he was discovered in his cell at California State Prison-Sacramento.
They have named his cellmate, 41-year-old Meeko Carraway, as a suspect. Carraway is serving a 50-year-to-life sentence following his conviction on a murder charge in San Bernardino County.
Bealey was also convicted of murder and was serving a sentence of 43 years to life.
