Sheriff’s Department Investigating Deadly Shooting in Rosemont

SACRAMENTO COUNTY  — A 26-year-old man is dead after investigators say he was shot to death inside of his own home in the Rosemont area of Sacramento County.

According to Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies, someone inside a house in the 9500 block of Linda Rio Drive called for help after a fight ended with the 26-year-old being killed with a bullet to the head.

A 32-year-old man who is believed to be the shooter was detained shortly after deputies arrived on scene.

They have not clarified what the relationship is between the victim and the suspected shooter.

Investigators tell FOX40 at least four adults were inside the home, along with several children, around 9:30 p.m. as the disagreement started.

Those children were not in the living room when bullets flew.

They could be seen being interviewed by deputies on the front lawns of neighboring homes behind crime scene tape.

One neighbor tells FOX40 she overheard one of the kids saying, “daddy was just trying to protect us.”

Another person standing at the edge of the scene, Dominick Martinez, said his friends live right next door to where the shooting happened and called him in a panic, looking for a ride out of the area and saying “my next door neighbor just got murdered.”

Those friends also told Martinez the shooting site was a “problem” house that had been visited by officers in the past.

The victim and the suspected shooter have not yet been identified.
