World Gold Panning Championships Return to El Dorado County

PLACERVILLE -- For the first time in nearly 20 years, the world gold panning championships have returned to El Dorado County.

More than 400 of the world's best gold panners will be at the fairgrounds in Placerville starting Wednesday and running through the end of the weekend.

The last time the championships were held in Northern California was in Caloma in 1998 in the house side is rotated around the globe every year.
