Former School Employee to Be Sentenced to 150 Years to Life in Prison

SACRAMENTO — A former Sacramento school employee will be sentenced to 150 years to life in prison on October 28.

Joshua Vasquez, 31, pled guilty to six counts of committing lewd acts upon a child involving six different children.

He worked with a city after-school program at Mark Twain Elementary in the Sacramento City Unified School District.

Authorities say Vasquez developed friendships with his victims ranged in age from seven to 13.

Vasquez recorded himself playing “games” with the children.

While on school grounds, Vasquez took the children into his classroom, locked the door, and blindfolded them while he played different “games” with them. The games included the “cool whip,” juice,” and “treasure chest” game, which were all designed to have the children touch Vasquez’s genitals in a number of ways. — Sacramento District Attorney Media Release
