ELK GROVE -- With the presidential election less than 48 days away, it appears some political drama is playing out on an Elk Grove woman's front lawn.
Melva Simons' Elk Grove home is patriotic.
In front of her American flag and red, white and blue decor is her Trump sign, proudly sitting on her front lawn.
"I have a First Amendment right to put it there. And they're not gonna take that away from me," Simons said.
But despite those rights, she's had a tough time keeping the sign there.
"I just think its abominable," said Simons.
As political tensions build ahead of this contentious presidential election, Simons says it's not hard to understand why her symbol of support for Donald Trump has been stolen multiple times.
"I think it's because people are against Trump, they want the same old thing," she said.
Simons says it was after her signs were stolen four times and her home got egged that she decided to put up multiple surveillance cameras.
Friday they caught a thief on camera.
Surveillance video shows a dark blue pickup truck pull up to her cul-de-sac.
A woman gets out , plucks the sign from the lawn and drives away.
"I feel very violated because they did that," said Simons.
Simons said it happened while she was home.
But despite her frustration she refuses to stop making her political preference known.
"I'll just keep putting them out, if they keep stealing them, I'll keep putting them out until after the election," said Simons.
She's even added a warning sign to potential thieves to remind them it's against the law to steal from her front lawn.
