YOLO COUNTY -- One person was killed in a chain reaction crash early Monday morning along the Yolo Causeway near West Sacramento.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Ford Fusion that had stopped after a minor collision was hit by a tomato truck, pushing it into the middle, eastbound lane of the causeway.
Then, the Ford was struck by a Toyota Prius, pushing it toward the center median. The driver of the Ford got out of the car but was struck again and thrown from the elevated portion of the causeway.
That driver of the Ford was killed, officers said. The passenger was said to have major injuries.
The crash snarled the morning, eastbound commute on Interstate 80.
