LINCOLN -- Hundreds of people gathered in Lincoln's McBean park Monday night, lifting candles and prayers in memory of Lt. Col. Steve "Shooter" Eadie.
He was remembered as an accomplished military pilot, a loving and loyal husband, a father of six and a proud new grandfather.
People who knew him described him as a man of rare kindness, genuine goodness.
Lt. Col. Eadie lost his life in a Sept. 20 U-2 plane crash during a training mission near Beale Air Force Base.
A memorial with full military honors is scheduled for Thursday at the base.
