Four Dead Following Violent Weekend in Sacramento

SACRAMENTO -- Four men were shot outside an Arden nightclub early Sunday morning. One man died while the three others are being treated at area hospitals.

The victim who died was identified by the Sacramento County coroner as 28-year-old Cesar Aleman.

Aleman's death marks the fourth person killed by gun violence in the city in 24 hours.

The shooting happened in the parking lot of La Nueva Tropicana on Arden Way just after 2AM.

"We've had a fairly tough 24 hours," said Sacramento police Officer Matthew McPhail.

Around 1:30 Saturday morning, a shooting killed one man and injured another outside of the Flame Club. A shooting at a South Sacramento home Saturday evening killed two men and injured another.

While the three shootings happened in the same weekend, the Sac PD isn't drawing connections between the homicides. McPhail said they're not related.

Investigators scoured the parking lot of La Nueva Tropicana for evidence Sunday morning. Video from a Sacramento Police POD may help.

"There is a POD just off of Arden Way in that area that our investigators will probably be tapping into to see if there's some piece of vital information," said McPhail.

Officers couldn't say whether or not the four victims were inside La Nueva Tropicana before the shooting. Police said they don't know if the victims were the intended target, if they know each other of if they know the suspect.

So far there are no indicators of gang involvement.

The department is looking for who's to blame for this most recent shooting.

"There is a suspect out there somewhere that's responsible for this incident," said McPhail.

Anyone with information on this crime is urged to contact the Sacramento Police Department.
