SACRAMENTO -- Workers put in the last minute touches for a rare construction project in South Sacramento.
The Landing at College Square off the Cosumnes River exit on Hwy 99, is the first multi-family luxury housing project in South Sacramento in the last decade. Its features don't disappoint.
"A saltwater pool. We are the first communities out here in Sacramento to have one," Business manager, Kim Petersen said.
They also have a game room, gym, and a pet wash station.
But, it took some time for this to get here.
"It was very difficult for developers like us to make economics work a project like this," CEO of USA Properties Fun Inc. said.
The city of Sacramento approved the project in 2007. But at the time, Brown said they chose to first build an affordable housing project next door to address the needs of struggling families.
Now, that the recession is over, they are building a $50 million dollar luxury complex. Rents range from $1,300 to $1,900/ month. Some people have already moved in.
The convenient location, access to light rail, and proximity to Cosumnes River College is also a big draw for residents.
"The growth of Downtown, the state government is coming back, health care is strong, we look at Sacramento as a very strong economy going forwards," Brown said.
