SACRAMENTO — After a 90 minute standoff Saturday, police arrested a man suspected of assaulting someone, and attempting to steal a car as well as invade several Sacramento residences.

The Sacramento Police Department reports that they received a call about a man knocking on doors of an apartment complex on G Street and 24th Street at around 12:56 p.m. A resident of one of the apartments attempted to confront the man, who then attacked the resident multiple times with a knife. The resident sustained multiple non-life-threatening injuries as a result.

After leaving the complex, the suspect was tracked by officers to 21st Street and H Street, where he was trying to steal a car. Unable to get into the vehicle, he fled from officers by unsuccessfully trying to gain entry into the second story of a home.

The resident of the house was taken to safety by police while they negotiated with the suspect on the front porch. When the man would not comply with officers for an hour and a half, he was physically restrained.

The man was charged on suspicion of assault, attempted carjacking, attempted home invasion, resisting arrest and violation of his probation conditions.
