Sheriff’s Department Investigating Deadly Gas Station Shooting

SACRAMENTO -- The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department is investigating a shooting near El Camino Avenue and Darwin Street.

The shooting happened just before 4 p.m. Monday at Beacon Gas Station.

A 23-year-old man was shot in the head.

When Deputies arrived, the victim was unresponsive but was breathing and had a faint pulse. Sacramento Metro Fire transported him to a local hospital where he died from his injuries around 11 p.m. Monday.

Authorities say the victim arrived at the gas station with a friend and witnesses report hearing one gunshot and saw a dark-colored SUV or truck leave the scene.

At this time there is no known motive and no description of the occupants of the vehicle seen fleeing.
