TURLOCK — Turlock police are investigating an explosion that injured one person Saturday evening.

Fire crews arrived at North Olive Avenue around 8:51 p.m. for what they initially called an “unknown type of explosion” and found a two-story duplex filled with gray smoke. The Turlock Fire Department reports extinguishing some smoldering debris inside the residence once they were inside.

A man outside the apartment had second and third degree burns covering about 20 percent of his body and was airlifted to a burn center.

Police are attempting to determine if there was any drug activity in the building prior to the explosion.
