Body Found in American River, Another Missing After Jumping from Bridge

SACRAMENTO — Sacramento Fire confirmed early Sunday that a man’s body was found in the American River underneath a railroad bridge.

Boat and rescue crews with Sacramento Fire and the West Sacramento Fire Department were on the river just after 7 a.m. Sunday working recovery efforts.

Sacramento Fire has confirmed the victim is an adult male. Few details are known at this time as to the victim’s age or the circumstances of the incident.

The discovery of the man’s body comes hours after Sacramento Fire got word that a man jumped into the Sacramento River late Saturday night. According to authorities, around 11:30 p.m. Saturday,  a man jumped from the Tower Bridge into the Sacramento River. The man has not been seen since.

Sacramento Fire has confirmed the two incidents are unrelated.
