SACRAMENTO — One Sacramento resident got an unexpected visitor Friday night in the form of a large tortoise.

The slow-moving reptile greeted a homeowner at their front door near the end of the Dariel Drive in Sacramento.

No one in the immediate area knew where the tortoise had come from.

After their guest was given a late night lettuce snack, animal control showed up around 9:25 p.m. to take him away.

The sulcata tortoise is now with Front Street Animal Shelter and they are looking for his owner.
