    FRESNO — The Fresno Police Department is trying to identify a suspect who stole a wig from a store through the door’s mail slot.   • 53-Year-Old Killed, 3-Year-Old Injured in Hedge Avenue Crash

    SOUTH SACRAMENTO — Authorities responded to the scene of a fatal car accident in South Sacramento at Hedge Avenue and Florin Road. The crash happened around 3:20 p.m. Friday. A 53-year-old man driving a 2004 Honda Accord was going north on Hedge Avenue at about 40-45 mph with his 3-year-old son strapped in the backseat.   • Stockton Police Searching for Suspect Who Shot, Robbed Victim at the Park

    STOCKTON — Police are looking for man they say shot and robbed someone in Stockton Tuesday around 11:05 a.m. Investigators say he met up with the victim and they went to a park on Quail Lakes Drive to smoke marijuana. Shortly after, the man allegedly shot the victim, stole his backpack and fled in a silver Lexus (possibly an IS300 or 250) with black racing stripes.   • 5-Year-Old Boy Hit by Car in North Highlands, Suffers Major Injuries

    NORTH HIGHLANDS — A young boy is in the hospital after being hit by a car in North Highlands Thursday night around 7:40 p.m. The incident happened on Elkhorn Boulevard and Ramsey Drive. The 5-year-old suffered major injuries. Alcohol and drugs did not play a factor in the crash. Authorities say the driver is not being charged.

    SACRAMENTO — The Sacramento Police Department is investigating after the Sacramento Valley Council on American-Islamic Relations received a strange package in the mail. “We did not know what would be inside. We thought we saw a book, it was probably the Quran, but we let the authorities open it,” Katelyn Costa, CAIR, said.   • Sacramento River Cats Get New Jerseys for Sactown Grown Night

    WEST SACRAMENTO — On July 29, in honor of Sactown Grown night, the Sacramento River Cats players will be covered in tomatoes. This night will be a celebration of the Sacramento region as the Farm-to-Fork Capitol of the nation. The jerseys worn by the players will be auctioned off during the game. The money raised will go to Team Chris.
