  • Videos Show Masked Suspects Trying to Set Fire to Tulare School’s Flags

    TULARE — Two suspects were caught on camera trying to set fire to a Tulare high school’s American and California flags. The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office posted the video of the masked suspects lowering the flags at Accelerated Charter High School on Sunday. The surveillance footage shows the two attempting to set the flags on fire. When they’re unsuccessful they run from the school.   • Sacramento to Get New $460M Courthouse at Downtown Railyards

    DOWNTOWN SACRAMENTO — The City of Sacramento is getting a new courthouse, one that Mayor Darrell Steinberg says is much needed. The $460 million to build it came from the state budget and not from the city. Steinberg said Thursday was a case where persistence paid off. The new 17-story building would be at The Railyards and could open in 2023. The current Sacramento Superior Courthouse is more than 50 years old.  

  • Juvenile Killed, 4 Injured in Shooting Near Tracy Boulevard

    TRACY — A juvenile was killed in a Thursday night shooting in Tracy, according to the Tracy Police Department. Several shots were fired on West 6th Street near Tracy Boulevard around 7:30 p.m. Four other people, two of them also minors, were also hit by the gunfire and injured.   • 5 Shot at Union City Funeral Home

    UNION CITY — The Union City Police Department reports five people were shot at a funeral home Thursday night. Around 7 p.m., officers were called to the Chapel of the Chimes on Mission Boulevard. Once they arrived they found three people suffering from gunshot wounds. According to the police department, two more victims were later found. Police do not know the conditions of the five victims. Investigators do not currently have any suspect information and do not know of any motive. The […]

  • Sacramento Officer Shoots, Kills Dog at Suspects’ Home

    SACRAMENTO — An officer shot and killed a dog Thursday at a South Sacramento home. The Sacramento Police Department’s Marijuana Enforcement Team was attempting to serve a search warrant at a home on Vallecitos Way, near Sun River Drive, when a resident ran from them. Officers followed the resident to the backyard, where they came across multiple, aggressive dogs, according to the police department.     Two pilots walked away from an emergency landing Thursday at Mather Airport. A photo posted to the Metro Fire Twitter account shows a small aircraft doused in fire retardant. Investigators say a fire forced the pilots to make an emergency landing.
