    SACRAMENTO — A man’s body was found in the rose gardens at Capitol Park on Wednesday afternoon, according to the CHP. Around 2:12 p.m., the CHP received a call about an unresponsive man in the garden. The Sacramento Fire Department was called out and declared the man dead. The man’s death appears to be due to natural causes, but the coroner’s office will release the official cause of death. The identity of the person is not known.

    SUISUN CITY — A shooting in Suisun City has left one man in critical condition, police said. Around 11:44 p.m. on Monday, officers responded to reports of a shooting at The Village Apartments on Civic Center Boulevard. Officers found a 38-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head.     Officials Investigating Attempted Murder of Correctional Officer by Inmate at Mule Creek State Prison

    IONE — Mule Creek State Prison officials are investigating the attempted murder of a correctional officer after he was attacked by an inmate Sunday afternoon. Just after 12:30 p.m. inmate Brian Jones, 28, allegedly came out of his cell and said “What’s up?” to an officer, according to a release from the prison.     CERES — Ceres police have arrested a man who was wanted for allegedly entering his estranged wife’s home through a doggy door, threatening her with a gun and sexually assaulting her.   • Repair Work Underway on Levees in Sutter County

    SUTTER COUNTY — Heavy winter flows on the Feather River are prompting urgent levee repairs in Yuba City. The levee near the Fifth Street Bridge is being reinforced with riprap — basketball-sized boulders — to protect the city. The Sutter Butte Flood Control Agency is also putting a slurry wall in for a levee south of Yuba City that saw boils and seepage this winter that required temporary repair.
