Darren McQuade

Bio

I love the rush I get from covering breaking news. There is nothing quite like shooting video and gathering information at an unfolding situation. But, I also love telling all sorts of stories. Consider my eyes and ears, your eyes and ears. Through the lens, I capture what I see and hear and transform it to a compelling story.  I have been a Multimedia Journalist/Photographer with FOX 40 since May 2012.

I grew up in New York, went to school at the University of Vermont and have worked at TV stations in North Carolina and Utah. The National Press Photographer’s Association, Associated Press and the Utah Society of Professional Journalists have recognized my work. I have also been nominated for two Emmy awards.

I love listening to punk and ska music and watching horror films. I even made a short zombie film in college.  My reputation as a practical jokester has been well known in every newsroom I have been a part of, and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.

I enjoy exploring Midtown and frequenting its nightlife. If you see me come say hi! Have a story idea? E-mail me at Darren.McQuade@fox40.com Follow me on twitter for breaking news information and pictures @BreakinNewsBoy

I’m known around the newsroom for…
My loud shoes and drinking absurd amounts of coffee.
What keeps me going

Coffee. I’m a total coffee addict.
I give back to my community by
Sharing important information and perspectives in my stories

Why FOX40?

I love what I do for a living and FOX40 allows me to be creative with my storytelling and try new things.

My greatest TV moment

Getting an exclusive interview with a convicted murderer during a perp walk.

TV moment I’d like to forget

Once while being interviewed on live TV about I fire I was shooting I made such loud hand gestures that I accidentally slapped the microphone away.

If I had free time, I would…

Sleep in more frequently.
