ANGELS CAMP–

Saturday, hundreds gathered at Bret Harte High School in Angels Camp, remembering Alex and Macaila Marshall. The sister and brother were murdered at the hands of their own father just last week.

Friends who knew them said 17-year-old Alex and his 14-year-old sister will never be replaced.

“There are no words or emotions to describe the hurt,” said a woman who knew them both.

Macaila loved to sing and her brother was fascinated with Spiderman.

Friends talked about how much love and joy the duo spread to everyone who knew them. More than 100 balloons were sent into the air in Alex and Macaila’s memory.

Grief counselors have been at the school throughout the week to help grieving students.

ANGELS CAMP-

Hundreds gathered in the quad of Brete Harte Union High School Wednesday evening to remember two siblings, 14-year-old Micaila and Alex, 17.

Deputies say the two were shot and killed by their father, Phillip Marshall, Saturday before he killed himself.

The vigil was organized entirely by the high school’s student leadership group. More than 500 candles were passed out to hundreds of mourners.

“They are still here. They’re definitely still with us,” said Sean Plummer, mother of the two slain teens.

She was on a business trip in Turkey when she received the word about her children.

“I’ve only been back for two days, I haven’t even processed what has happened,” she told FOX40.

More than 40 friends of Micaila and Alex have showed their support for the last two nights by bunking with Plummer.

“The kids at this high school have stepped up and shown so much courage and strength, and a lot of love.” Plummer said.

The vigil began Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.

MURPHYS-

With the flag at half mast, students at Bret Harte Union gathered to mourn the deaths of their slain classmates, 14-year-old Macaila and 17-year-old Alex Marshall.

Deputies say they found the two teens this weekend, lying on the couch in a puddle of blood.

“We now understand that the two children were likely asleep when they were shot in the head,” Sgt. Chris Hewitt of the Calaveras County Sheriffs Department told FOX40.

Deputies say the children were killed by their 54-year-old father, Philip Marshall, before he took his own life.

“Macaila was such a perfect person she was so happy all the time. I just wish she was here with us right now,” said friend Maddie Dunn.

The high school closed the library Monday to give students a place to mourn, providing counselors for faculty and classmates.

Friends of the family tell FOX40 the mother, Sean Marshall, is returning from Turkey Monday evening.

Authorities Looking for Reason Behind Murder-Suicide

Macaila and Alex were allegedly shot and killed by their father. They were found in their Murphys home on February 2.

MURPHYS-

Calaveras County investigators say the 17-year-old boy and 14-year-old girl were asleep when they were shot and killed in an apparent murder suicide.

Authorities believe the siblings were killed by their father, Phillip Marshall. Marshall was found in a pool of blood Sunday. His children Alex, 17, and Macaila, 13, were found with gunshot wounds.

“Based on the investigation, we do believe that the kids were asleep at the time they were shot,” said Sgt. Chris Hewitt of the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office.

The family dog was also found, dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

Friends of the family tell FOX40 that Marshall was a pilot who had authored several 9/11 conspiracy books.

The kids’ mother, Marshall’s estranged wife, was out of the country on a business trip.

Grief Counselors at School for Friends of Killed Teens

Authorities Looking for Reason Behind Murder-Suicide

Macaila and Alex were allegedly shot and killed by their father. They were found in their Murphys home on February 2.

ANGELS CAMP-

Grief counselors will be on-hand at a Calaveras County high school Monday to help students mourning the loss of two students.

Alex and Macaila, ages 17 and 14, were killed last week or over the weekend, allegedly by their father who then took his own life. The grisly scene was discovered Saturday when deputies stopped by their Murphys home for a welfare check.

The teens’ mother is estranged from their father and was traveling in Turkey at the time of the shooting. She has been contacted by officials and is now on her way back to California.

The two teens attended Bret Harte High School in Angels Camp.

There will be a memorial service at the high school on Saturday.

MURPHYS—

A small Calaveras County community has been rocked after an apparent murder-suicide, where a man killed his two teenage children and then himself.

Calaveras County Sheriff’s deputies showed up to a home near Sandalwood Drive and Canyon Ridge Court a little after 3 p.m. Saturday to do a welfare check.

Friends of the teens told authorities that they had not heard from the teens since Thursday, so they went to the house on Saturday to look for them – seeing the father, Philllip Marshall, lying in a pool of blood on the floor.

Deputies soon confirmed the grisly scene, finding Marshall as well as his two teenage children – 17-year-old Alex and 14-year-old Macaila – and the family dog dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

Investigators found that the three had been shot once in the head, although the official cause of death will not be determined until later.

Authorities note that the wife of Phillip, and the mother of the teens, was out of the country at the time of the incident. She is also said to be estranged from Phillip.

The teens were students at Bret Harte High School in Angels Camp, authorities say.
